Open Gym Covid-19 Operational Manual - Green Phase

It is the intent of Bench Mark Program (BMP) to provide a safe atmosphere in which to carry out our vital mission. To this end, the following procedures shall be implemented until further notice. 

1. Gym Usage 

The gym will be open Monday through Thursday 5PM - 7PM during this time. No more than 13 people will be allowed in the gym at one time. If there are more than 13 people, we will split into smaller groups and cycle through outdoor and indoor sessions.

2. Hand Sanitization 

Each person shall apply hand sanitizer before touching anything. Each person shall apply hand sanitizer immediately upon returning from using the bathroom.

3. Greetings 

Waving, nodding, bowing, or verbal acknowledgements will substitute for hand shakes.

4. Temperature 

Each person shall have their temperature taken prior to entering the gym. This will be accomplished with the use of a non-contact thermometer.

5. Physical Distancing 

Staff and students shall maintain physical distancing measures at all times. 

  • Exception: When a safety hazard is identified and the only way to remedy it is to come approach another person.

6. Fitness Programming 

BMP fitness programming will continue without contact sports. Basketball, boxing, and football are examples of sports which will not be allowed. Certain training procedures will be allowed on a case by case basis. b. No spotting while lifting 

  • This means that anyone lifting will not be allowed to attempt maximum efforts with the exception that if the lifter has proven to qualified staff that they can perform the exercise safely and safety bars are used.

7. Masks

Each person shall be given a mask prior to entering BMP and will be required to wear it or the entirety of their time at BMP.

8. Gloves 

Single use gloves will be provided for any who wish to use them.

9. Lesson Supplies 

Every item will be cleaned prior to each use.

10. Sanitization 

Each person will wipe down equipment after each use. b. Professional sanitization techniques will be taught to all staff members. BMP equipment will be sanitized after close EVERY NIGHT by a staff member.

11. Anyone displaying symptoms will be asked to leave immediately.
