About Will

I was born and raised in Gettysburg, PA before I moved to Lancaster in 2010 to attend Franklin and Marshall College where I studied both Public Health and Spanish. In order to give back to the community before graduating, I decided to mentor a few local high school students at the YMCA. I love weight lifting, and I love talking to people, so a fitness-based mentoring program seemed like a natural fit for me. I reached out to a college professor who connected me with a community leader who eventually put me in touch with three young men who I would pick up from school a few days a week and train for a few hours in the gym. We would talk about life and I would offer suggestions about how to overcome all of the challenges that pop up when you’re in high school. That was the beginning of Bench Mark Program as it is today, an organization that has brought me more joy, and more challenges, than I ever could have imagined. When I’m not working with my team at Bench Mark Program, I’m renovating properties in Lancaster City with my wife Karla, or out walking our dog Snoopy and listening to audiobooks.
